Birth of unborn

Birth of the unborn
On a sunny day, a cute young couple soaking in sun lay beside each other holding hands, basking in the glory of the wait endowed by nature, yes she was expecting, they were as happy as they could be. he massaged her with sunscreen. There were few other families around, kids played in sand, few others threw ball around.

Suddenly there were few awws and sympathetic ohhs , yes this happened every time this particular couple came to beach , guy looked little old his grey hairs did tell that. girl had just entered 30’s but her wrinkles told a separate story. Yes she loved the beach, it was here she first kissed him and was his forever, she still remembers the foam of water when it touched her feet, that odd shell which stuck to her ankle. He too remembers, the loud cheers when she kissed him, his friends knew from day one, that she was the one for him. they married young , right out of college , then god endowed her with a lovely son that’s what doctors told her in third month of pregnancy. Then two months later world came crashing down around them, they were shattered when told that the baby had Down’s syndrome and would not be a normal child. All the hell broke loose when doctors advised them to abort their child yes their own progeny to be born out of love.

It is a murder, claimed one. It is not your decision who lives and who dies said the other. Then came the priest donning white rob, kind with words and with actions, said everyone is special and is blessed by the god. That’s it, they had made their mind they would let the nature take its own course.

The boy was born, they smiled they tried but were not able to feel that happiness, others came in; sympathy was what they got not congratulations not even one hurray. Over the years they did everything to make him comfortable but as he grew he had to be restrained by being tied to a restraining chair. Parents got pat on back from everyone they met, priest even named them in one service. He said they were serving the god himself.

Boy, tied in chair, fed by his mother, put to sleep by his father. Only to wake up and to be tied to a chair again, kids would play around his but he would be cast as scary, they never came near him, long back neighbours son came near him, he grabbed his hairs and would not let go, he was innocent in his innocence he did not know what to do or what not to do, but it was last time when anyone came near him other than his own parents
His parents wanted another child but they always feared that it would take their attention away from him. Also they feared what if it happens again, it had robbed them of their confidence, dented there love, killed there spirit

But sea seldom remains calm , tides turn , storms brew , breaking the status quo , nature took its turn boy became sick at age of 20, he breath his last in next few days. He was given a tearful bid adieu

Everyone spoke well about him at his funeral, but his father could not say a word, all he had were questions in his mind
Did the boy have a happy life?
Was he indeed special?
Was he able to enjoy the limited days he had??
Did he have any friend?
What if he felt everything but could not say??
What if he felt lonely?
What if he was unhappy?
Did he hate being tied?
Did he felt jailed?
What if he felt jealous of other kids?
What if he just could not bear it?
And then his thoughts wandered ho himself, had he done injustice to him should he have listened to the doctor, the big question came
Had it cost him and his wife their own youth??
Their marriage??
Their second child??
Has he lost courage to have another kid now??
He slumped on the floor and cried and cried and cried
Now all three of them asks everyone, should they have aborted or put the kid to rest in infancy
And I ask you to ask yourself
Was this the birth of unborn ??
